EAST LONDON GUIDING AND HISTORY

Birkbeck College is offering a not to be missed opportunity to learn about the history of East London while enhancing your educational and employment prospects.

Dates and Times: Tuesdays, 2.30-4.30, 4 October-13 December 2011 (10 weeks)
Location: The Museum in Docklands and the Bishopsgate Institute

Background and Qualifications:
This innovative module is designed to give you hands on training in guiding together with an introduction to the history of East London, from qualified and experienced guide trainers.
Students will undertake a ten week course of study consisting of a two-hour session per week. Each session will be devoted to a different aspect of guiding or topic in the history of East London. During the course, there will be visits to a range of sites across the five Olympic boroughs, including the 2012 Olympics site.
At the end of the course, students will undertake a short practical exam and a presentation with a 2500 word research portfolio. Completion of the work for this module will qualify the student for 15 CATS points and can contribute to the completion of the equivalent of the 1st year of an undergraduate degree.

Costs: There are four fee categories for this module:
£115 for students without a first degree level qualification who qualify for concessions
£225 for students without a first degree who do not qualify for concessions
£150 for students with a first degree who qualify for concessions
£300 for students with a first degree who do not qualify for a concession

Bursaries:
