Your Docklands & City magazine is offering your business the chance to earn the recognition it deserves with the launch of the Your Docklands & City Business Awards 2011.
Here are the categories to enter
NEW BUSINESS
To be considered for this award you need to be a business that trades within the Thames Gateway, Docklands and City area and started trading between 1st January 2009 and 1st June 2011. Judges for this award will be looking for how your new business has performed against your business plan and what future plans you have to develop it.
TRAINING & STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Employees are a key asset to any business as such entrants for this category must be able to demonstrate how their business has improved through the training and development of their staff. Judges for this category will be looking for what plans were put in place, what methods of training were offered and how the results have met objectives set.
RETAILER OF THE YEAR
This award aims to recognise how both traditional and online retail businesses have developed their business practice in all elements of retailer trading. Judges will be looking for the use of best practice, as well as innovative ways in which systems have enabled the retailer to excel in tough market conditions. Judges will be particularly looking for examples of best practice through good customer care, productivity, promotional offers and advertising opportunities.
GROWTH BUSINESS
Entrants for the growth business category will need to demonstrate how their business has shown exceptional growth within their industry. Year on year financial documentation must be provided to support your application and entrants will need to illustrate how the business has achieved this growth.
CHARITABLE ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR
This award is open to businesses that have made an active contribution to support their local community, schools or colleges via either raising awareness, funding or by their physical help. Entrants for this award will be measured on their social impact and not purely on financial support.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
Whether business owner or manager of a business unit, entrants must be able to demonstrate that their role has been instrumental in the growth/success of the company and that they are valued part of the team. Entrants will need to highlight the particular skills sets that they possess that enable them to stand out from the crowd and provide a positive impact on business performance.
